LAMALERA WHALE HUNTING

Day
01 Maumere – Larantuka Lewoleba – Lamalera
Arrival at Frans Seda Airport of Maumere
meeting service then drive to Larantuka
a small town on the eastern of Flores island through the villages,
coconut platantion, rivers, hill and jungles. It is the beautiful scenery. Lunch we will be take in Boru. On arrival in
Larantuka direct to accommodation. Dinner and over night. ( L, D )
Day
02 Larantuka – Lewoleba – Lamalera
After breakfast transfer
to the pier for boarding on a
wooden boat to cruise to Lewoleba, Lembata
Island. Arrival in Lewoleba direct to local restaurant for lunch and
then drive to to Lamalera Village.
Accommodation and meal at Lamalera home stay.

Day
03 Lamalera
After breakfast join
with the whale hunter on
pledang , the primitive wooden boat with the palm fiber sail. Or you can
taking
the private boat to trip with the whale hunters. Most of those caught
are sperm
whales though occasionally smaller pilot whales are sharkes, mantarays
and dolphins. The villagers of Lamalera mainly use harpoons
for fishing. There is a risk being wet
or half drowned if they do catch swimming animals on high seas. Lunch in
box we
will be provide. If no catch the fleet will return to village take your
spare
time in the afternoon to learn more about the daily life of the
villgers ( B, L, D )
Day
04 Lamalera – Lewoleba – Larantuka – Maumere
Early morning drive back to Lewoleba then take a regular public passenger boat to
Larantuka. Lunch we will be take in
Larantuka. Return to Maumere for dinner and over night. ( B, L, D )
